Religious landmarks celebrated in Hungary and Romania

Historical and religious landmarks in Hungary and Romania are being highlighted through various commemorations. In Budapest, the Matthias Church (Budavári Nagyboldogasszony-templom) is noted for its long history, including its Gothic reconstruction led by Frigyes Schulek and its role as a coronation church for figures such as Charles Robert and Franz Joseph I.

In Romania, the Bihari Nagyboldogasszony Roman Catholic Parish Church celebrated the 200th anniversary of its construction. During the festivities, Bishop László Böcskei consecrated the renovated church and unveiled a bronze statue of King Saint Ladislaus, created by sculptor Árpád Deák. The event also honored the historical connection between the Bihari bishopric and the foundations laid by Saint Stephen.
