Religious leaders hold seminars on humanizing the digital age and AI
Religious leaders and academics in Colombia and Chile have hosted seminars focused on the anthropological and spiritual implications of artificial intelligence.
In Chía, Colombia, Father Alberto Carrara of the Pontifical Academy for Life led a seminar titled ‘Christians in Times of Artificial Intelligence.’ The event addressed the fundamental question of what it means to be human in a world of automated decision-making. Carrara emphasized that the core challenge of AI is not technological, but anthropological and spiritual, urging participants to consider the values embedded within these tools rather than reacting with either apocalyptic fear or naive enthusiasm.
In Arica, Chile, the Diocese of San Marcos held the V Family Congress under the theme ‘The Joy of Love in the Era of AI.’ The congress featured discussions from psychologists and clergy on how families can maintain authentic human connections amidst technological advancement. Key themes included the importance of protecting intimacy, educating loved ones, and prioritizing physical presence and dialogue to counter the potential fragmentation of social and emotional bonds caused by digital culture.
