Religious leaders in Zambia and Sierra Leone face scrutiny
The Pentecostal Assemblies of God Zambia (PAOGZ) has issued a statement defending Presiding Bishop Joshua Banda against allegations of political bias and misinformation. The church clarified that a recent engagement involving two opposition leaders at the United Nations was not an independent initiative by Bishop Banda or the Northmead Assembly, but a collective assignment undertaken by eight church mother bodies following an engagement initiated by the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General.
In Sierra Leone, calls have been made for Attorney-General Alpha Sesay to investigate serious allegations made by Pastor Francis Mambu. Mambu has publicly claimed involvement in practices involving human remains and disappearances. Observers are urging the state to determine if there is evidence behind these claims rather than treating the matter as a social media debate.
