Religious leaders meet in Cochabamba for ecumenism and migrant advocacy

Religious leaders and pastoral agents from Bolivia, Chile, and Peru gathered in Cochabamba for high-level meetings focused on Christian unity and migrant support.

The National Meeting of Ecumenism Delegates, hosted by the Archdiocese of Cochabamba, brought together representatives from various ecclesiastical jurisdictions, including La Paz, Potosí, Santa Cruz, and Oruro. The assembly focused on fostering fraternal communion and strengthening dialogue between different faith expressions to address social and spiritual challenges in the country.

Simultaneously, the X Meeting of Bishops and Pastoral Agents of the Triple Frontier addressed the complexities of human mobility. Under the theme ‘Walls that separate, Faith that unites,’ participants discussed rising xenophobia, stricter border controls, and increased bureaucratic hurdles for migrants. The group signed a pastoral commitment act, outlining six specific actions to serve as a refuge and voice for vulnerable populations crossing the borders of Bolivia, Chile, and Peru.
