Religious life and conversion in the Netherlands

Religious communities in the Netherlands are launching a new initiative titled ‘Hoor je Mij?’ (Do You Hear Me?) starting in September. The program invites young men and women to explore religious vocations by visiting approximately eighteen different monastic communities. Participants can meet religious brothers and sisters, learn about their spirituality, tour the premises, and participate in communal prayer and meals.

In a separate account of religious conversion, four brothers from Barendrecht—David, Daniël, Sebastiaan, and Xander Barendregt—have individually chosen to join the Catholic Church. Despite being raised without religious beliefs, the brothers conducted independent research into the existence of God, eventually reaching the same conclusion. Two of the brothers were baptized at the Liduinabasiliek in Schiedam during Pentecost.
