Religious milestones marked for Carlo Acutis and Teresa Ruocco in Italy
Religious communities in Italy are marking significant milestones in the paths toward sainthood for Carlo Acutis and Teresa Ruocco.
In the parish of Santa Maria Segreta, a celebration will be held on October 12 to honor the canonization of Carlo Acutis. The event, presided over by the Archbishop, serves as a moment of gratitude for the community where Acutis spent his adolescence. Local clergy noted that since his canonization, the area has seen continuous pilgrimages from international groups, including visitors from Australia, who come to pray in the locations significant to his life.
In the Diocese of Aversa, the diocesan inquiry for the beatification and canonization of Teresa Ruocco is set to officially begin on October 4, 2026. The proceedings will include a Holy Mass presided over by Mons. Angelo Spinillo and a formal reading of the episcopal edict. The event is expected to include a Peace March to the cemetery where Ruocco is buried, serving as a symbolic gesture of hope for the Terra dei Fuochi region.
