Religious pilgrimages held across various Italian regions
Various religious communities in Italy held traditional pilgrimages on September 13. In the Terni-Narni-Amelia diocese, a diocesan pilgrimage took place at the Sanctuary of Madonna del Ponte. The event featured a solemn concelebration led by Bishop Emeritus Giuseppe Piemontese and diocesan administrator Don Matteo Antonelli, attended by local civil authorities and numerous faithful. During the homily, Bishop Piemontese emphasized the importance of peace amidst global conflicts.
In Genoa Prà, the Archconfraternity of S. M. Assunta conducted its annual pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora dell'Acquasanta. The procession, titled ‘A Madonna do Ciccioin a l'Æguasanta’, featured the ascent of a 17th-century wooden case depicting the Virgin Mary with a traditional Ligurian hairstyle. The event included historical processional crucifixes, including a 17th-century piece attributed to the Bissoni workshop, representing the deep-rooted maritime and peasant traditions of the region.
