Religious revival reported through mass baptisms in Texas and South Carolina
Religious organizations in the United States are reporting significant increases in mass baptism events, which observers describe as signs of a spiritual awakening.
In Texas, Lakepointe Church reported that 882 people were baptized on September 27. Senior Pastor Josh Howerton noted that the event included many individuals overcoming addiction and personal loss. This follows previous large-scale events at the church, including nearly 700 baptisms last September and over 2,700 first-time decisions for faith this past Easter.
In Whitmire, South Carolina, the Whitmire Crusade 2026, organized by the ministry World Harvest, also saw a surge in religious activity during September 26 and 27. Evangelist Jacob Ebersole described the event as an extraordinary outpouring of the Holy Spirit, noting that participants of all ages, including many children and adolescents, responded to the gospel message and participated in baptisms.
