Religious traditions and celebrations held in Santa Severina and Teramo
In Santa Severina, the community is celebrating the patron saint, Sant’Anastasia. Following previous events including a torchlight procession, the main celebrations include a procession through the historic center and a pontifical Mass presided over by Bishop Serafino Parisi of Lamezia Terme. The festivities also feature musical entertainment and traditional local foods.
In Teramo, the Church of the Cappuccini is reinstating a prayer vigil after a hiatus of more than 60 years. The event, titled ‘Siate santi come io sono santo’, will feature the exhibition of relics housed within a 18th-century wooden altar. This historic altar, crafted by Fra Felice Palombieri, utilizes complex mechanical niches that have been reactivated following post-earthquake restoration work.
