Religious traditions and festivities held in Fortaleza and Crato

Religious celebrations and traditions are marking significant events in Brazil. In Fortaleza, the 24th Caminhada com Maria took place on August 15, where thousands gathered to celebrate Nossa Senhora da Assunção, the patron saint of the city.

In Crato, the Sé Catedral de Nossa Senhora da Penha has announced it will host its first collective wedding during the 2026 festivities for the patron saint of the Diocese of Crato. Scheduled for August 29, the ceremony aims to unite faith and tradition under the theme ‘A yes forever under the gaze of Our Lady of Penha’. The festivities are set to run from August 22 to September 1.
