Religious traditions celebrated in Puebla and Morelos

Various religious celebrations have taken place in Mexico, highlighting deep-seated local traditions and faith. In Huaquechula, Puebla, more than 2,500 people gathered to honor the Holy Cross, marking 219 years since its reported appearance. The event, which is recognized as a cultural heritage of the state of Puebla, included a vigil, mass, and pilgrimage. Participants included local residents, visitors, and migrants from New York, as well as dancers from Guatemala.

In Cuernavaca, Morelos, the Sanctuary of Tlaltenango hosted the coronation of the Virgin of Miracles. Bishop Ramón Castro Castro led the ceremony, where three crowns were placed on religious images. These crowns were crafted from jewelry donated by local community members, including rings and chains, as a gesture of gratitude for perceived miracles. The event served to reinforce the long-standing religious and sociocultural identity of the Tlaltenango neighborhood.
