Relizane achieves record industrial tomato production

The province of Relizane has achieved a record production of over 1.2 million quintals of industrial tomatoes for the 2025-2026 agricultural season. According to the provincial Directorate of Agricultural Services, this harvest was cultivated across approximately 1,000 hectares, resulting in an average yield exceeding 1,200 quintals per hectare.

Production was concentrated in several municipalities, including Sidi Khettab, Belassel, Oued Rhiou, Yellel, El Matmar, Djidiouia, and El Hamadna. Officials attributed these high yields to state support measures, which include technical monitoring, field assistance, and a financial subsidy of 4 dinars per kilogram. More than 50 farmers in the region have joined the industrial tomato support program.

The harvest is intended to supply processing units located within Relizane as well as in the provinces of Annaba, Sétif, Blida, Tipaza, and Tlemcen.
