Rema releases new single “TEA” with producer Mustard

Nigerian artist Rema has released “TEA,” his first solo single of the year and the lead track for his upcoming third album. The song marks a stylistic shift toward a dark, moody dancehall sound, characterized by Caribbean-leaning percussion, deep sub-bass, and atmospheric synths.

A notable aspect of the release is the production credit. The track was produced by Mustard, a Los Angeles-based producer known for his work in the West Coast club scene, alongside longtime Rema collaborator London and Sean Momberger. This represents a change in the typical production hierarchy for Rema, as Mustard is the sole listed producer, placing him above London, who has architected much of Rema’s catalogue since 2019.

The release is seen as a strategic positioning move, blending Afrobeats elements with American production to expand Rema’s global reach. The single has already gained traction on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
