reMarkable tablet discounts and layoffs as company reports losses

The digital note‑taking company reMarkable is offering a refurbished Paper Pro bundle for $449.99 through July 31, a reduction of more than $350 compared with its regular $629 price. The bundle includes the tablet, a Marker Plus stylus and a Book Folio, but carries a 90‑day warranty, whereas a new bundle from reMarkable costs $649 and includes a one‑year warranty.

Despite the price promotion, reMarkable posted roughly $500 million in revenue last year but remained in the red, citing geopolitical tensions and higher component costs. The company cut costs by laying off 80 employees, followed by an additional 200 in April 2026, and replaced CEO Philip Hess. The financial strain highlights the challenge of selling high‑priced tablets, even as the new Paper Pure model is priced at €399.
