Rembang promotes economic growth through MSMEs and aquaculture
Economic development initiatives in Rembang are focusing on both creative industries and marine aquaculture to boost local livelihoods. The R2B (Rembang Berdaya Bersama) platform is supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by providing training, micro-funding, and business mentorship. This program has helped local artisans, such as those in Lasem, transition to digital marketing to reach wider markets.
Simultaneously, the Rembang Regency Government is promoting green mussel cultivation to tap into high market demand. Officials from the Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries noted that while consumer demand is high—reaching up to four tons during peak holiday periods—the number of active cultivators remains low. The government is providing guidance to coastal communities to ensure the sustainability of this aquaculture sector, which offers promising economic returns for local residents.
