Rembang water infrastructure projects advance to secure irrigation and supply

Authorities in Rembang are advancing multiple water infrastructure projects to bolster food security and ensure stable water supplies for residents and farmers.

In Kalipang Village, the Rembang Regency Government is working to optimize the Kalipang longstorage. To address current capacity limitations that affect farmers during the dry season, the local government has increased land acquisition efforts. Bupati Rembang Harno has called for further dredging and structural adjustments to expand the storage capacity of the facility.

Simultaneously, construction of the Kaliombo reservoir in Sulang District has reached 77 percent completion. Managed by the BBWS Pemali Juana with a budget of approximately Rp22 billion, the project is ahead of schedule. Once completed, expected by December 2026, the reservoir will have a capacity of 176,000 cubic meters and is designed to support 14 hectares of agricultural land while providing potential for future tourism development.
