Remigijus Lipkevičius appointed head of Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration

Remigijus Lipkevičius has been appointed as the new head of the Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration (LTSA) for a five-year term. The appointment was made by Minister of Transport and Communications Juras Taminskas following a competition involving 30 candidates.

Lipkevičius brings extensive experience to the role, having spent nearly 27 years at the former Lithuanian Road Administration (now Via Lietuva), including serving as director from 2020 to 2023. His academic background includes degrees in management and law.

A primary objective for the new leadership is to enhance the control of overloaded heavy vehicles, a key component of the ‘STOP road destruction’ program. The Ministry plans to install 18 automatic scales on major roads by 2028 and intends to strengthen LTSA's oversight through IT innovations and increased technical capabilities. The LTSA is responsible for supervising transport activities, issuing licenses, investigating accidents, and managing transport safety education.
