Remo faces defender shortage as Tchamba's return stalls and club fined by STJD
Defender Tchamba, sidelined since a muscle injury before the July 23 match with Corinthians, has progressed to the transition phase of his rehabilitation. Club medical chief Dr. Jean Klay said Tchamba passed recent physical tests and could be considered for a return against Internacional on August 17, provided his conditioning continues to improve.
Separately, Remo was penalised by the Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva (STJD) for disorder following the Copa do Brasil second‑leg match against Santos. The club must pay a R$10,000 fine, and football supervisor Diego Ziegg received a 15‑day suspension for alleged insults to officials. Defender Marllon was suspended for one match after being sent off in the same game, and Zé Ivaldo missed the upcoming fixture due to a third yellow card. Consequently, Remo will enter its next Série A match against Atlético‑MG without Marllon, Tchamba, or Ivaldo in the back line, leaving only Léo Andrade available among the regular centre‑backs.
