Remote work remains stable despite return‑to‑office mandates

Census‑based data from Fortune shows the U.S. telework rate was 23.7% of employed adults in early 2025, only a slight rise from 17.9% in October 2022. The increase occurred even as large employers rolled out return‑to‑office (RTO) mandates, indicating that employee preferences for flexible arrangements have stayed durable.

Small companies are leveraging this trend: about 75% of firms with fewer than 500 employees now offer remote or flexible options, compared with roughly 17% of large enterprises. This flexibility is being used as a hiring advantage, especially for startups that cannot compete on salary alone.

In parallel, many women are revamping their home offices to improve comfort and productivity. Redesigned spaces emphasize ergonomic chairs, adjustable desks, better lighting, organized storage, and personal décor. These changes aim to reduce physical strain, enhance focus, and make long‑hour work more enjoyable.
