RemoveMacAI tool helps Mac users delete Apple Intelligence models

A new open-source tool called RemoveMacAI has been released to help Mac users reclaim storage space occupied by Apple Intelligence. Developed by Om Lahore, the utility is designed for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 27.

Following the release of macOS 27, Apple removed the single master switch that previously allowed users to disable Apple Intelligence entirely. While individual AI features can be toggled off, the underlying local AI models remain on the disk, consuming significant storage. Users report that these models can occupy anywhere from 12 GB to as much as 35 GB of space.

RemoveMacAI functions by using configuration profiles to disable AI features, deleting the downloaded models, and blocking the system from automatically re-downloading them. The tool also offers options to disable Mac analytics, personalized advertising, and Spotlight web results. It provides both a graphical user interface and a command-line version, allowing users to select specific features to keep or remove. The developer states the app does not collect data or make external network requests and does not require disabling System Integrity Protection (SIP).
