Remscheid authorities investigate arson near primary school

Authorities in Remscheid are investigating a series of arson and vandalism incidents near the Franziskus Catholic Primary School in the Lennep district. Recent events include the burning of a paper container located immediately adjacent to the school grounds.

Police are examining whether these recent acts are connected to two other similar fires in the district. While no injuries have been reported, officials expressed concern regarding the potential for fire to spread to buildings and paths, as well as the risks posed by smoke and property damage.

This follows a previous series of incidents on September 10, 2026, where firefighters responded to four parallel fires involving three paper containers and a large hedge in the Lennep area. While a direct link to the current incidents has not yet been proven, the frequency of such events has caused growing unease among local residents and the school community.
