René Valencia accuses Mexican deputy of covering for brother

René Valencia Reyes, leader of the Revolución Social organization, has accused local deputy Juan Carlos Barragán Vélez of covering for his brother, Luis Alfonso Barragán. Valencia alleges that the legislator intervened to protect his brother from legal consequences following several alleged criminal activities in Morelia.

Valencia claims that Luis Alfonso is involved in the theft of trailers and merchandise, as well as the sale of narcotics. Specifically, the accusations link the brother to the 2018 theft of musical equipment belonging to the group Río Roma. Valencia stated he has filed five formal complaints with the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) covering theft, illicit enrichment, and drug trafficking.

To support these claims, Valencia presented videos and photographs allegedly showing Luis Alfonso with large amounts of cash and stolen goods. While the deputy, a member of the Morena party, has previously claimed he has had no contact with his brother for three years, Valencia insists that both should be investigated for their alleged involvement in criminal activities.
