Rena Dourou advocates for femicide recognition and criticizes Greek government
Rena Dourou, President of the SYRIZA Central Committee, has emphasized the party's commitment to combating gender-based violence and its demand for the legal recognition of 'femicide' in criminal legislation, aligned with the Istanbul Convention.
During a meeting with Thessaloniki municipal officials, Dourou discussed the operations of the Women's Shelter and the role of local government in protecting victims of abuse. She advocated for continuous struggle against misogyny and patriarchy both within and outside Parliament.
Speaking at the OT Forum, Dourou also criticized the current government's economic policies and its handling of the Thessaloniki International Fair. She argued that the administration offers promises without tangible results for workers, retirees, and farmers. Dourou presented SYRIZA's economic alternatives, focusing on the housing crisis and private debt, while challenging other political parties to engage with their proposals.
