Renal health initiatives focus on hyperkalemia management and disease prevention

Hyperkalemia, a condition characterized by high potassium levels in the blood, requires individualized clinical assessment. It is often associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), hypertension, heart failure, and diabetes. In patients with advanced CKD, the frequency of hyperkalemia can reach up to 50%. Because the condition often lacks clear symptoms until it becomes severe, it can lead to serious complications such as arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, or sudden death.

To address the public health challenge of chronic kidney disease, the Fundación Renal Española has launched 'Salud Renal Siempre'. This free digital platform provides accessible information on kidney prevention, disease management, dialysis, and transplantation. The resource utilizes various formats, including videos, podcasts, and infographics, to reach Spanish-speaking populations globally and assist both healthy individuals and those living with renal disease.
