Renan Santos faces MPF lawsuit over indigenous remarks

Renan Santos, the presidential candidate for the Missão party, is facing legal and political challenges. The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) has filed a lawsuit against him for allegedly making discriminatory remarks against indigenous peoples in the Baixo Tapajós region. The MPF is seeking R$ 500,000 in damages and the removal of the offending social media posts. Santos has rejected the request for a retraction, calling the action ‘bizarre’ and vowing to support an inquiry into NGOs.

During a visit to Paraíba, Santos claimed to have removed a criminal barricade and a surveillance camera used by organized crime. However, the Paraíba Public Security Secretariat disputed his account, stating that the material he removed was merely debris and that security operations against crime are handled through professional intelligence and technical capacity.

In other political statements, Santos criticized the high salaries of military personnel and advocated for their inclusion in pension reforms. Meanwhile, his vice-presidential candidate, Aroldo Medina, emphasized the campaign's commitment to economic liberalism and legal security to attract the financial market.
