Renan Santos outlines 2026 presidential platform
Renan Santos, the presidential candidate for the Missão party, has outlined several controversial proposals as part of his 2026 campaign. In recent interviews and debates, Santos has advocated for the abolition of the Labor Court (Justiça do Trabalho), suggesting that labor disputes should be handled by Civil Courts instead. He has also expressed opposition to ending the 6x1 work schedule, stating he supports maintaining the current 44-hour work week.
On the issue of public security, Santos has proposed a model inspired by El Salvador, which includes establishing a state of exception to combat organized crime and building ten new maximum-security prisons. He has also suggested that Brazil should begin research and development into nuclear weapons to ensure national sovereignty and global standing.
His campaign has gained traction among younger, urban, and connected voters, according to recent polling. However, his platform remains polarizing, particularly regarding his views on labor rights, judicial structures, and security measures.
