Renan Santos intensifies campaign with multi-state tour and policy critiques
Renan Santos, the presidential candidate for the Missão party, has intensified his campaign through several strategic moves. He launched the ‘Tour Futuro Glorioso’ caravan, a multi-state tour involving two buses and 24-hour live broadcasts, aiming to visit 37 cities across the South and Southeast regions of Brazil.
During his campaign, Santos has taken strong stances on several key issues. He criticized the recent Bolsa Família benefit increase, labeling it ‘vote buying’ and pledging to replace welfare with work-oriented policies if elected. He also expressed concerns regarding potential interference from Donald Trump in the Brazilian elections and warned that the United States seeks to acquire Brazil's strategic rare earth minerals.
Santos has also targeted the judiciary, calling for the removal of Supreme Court justices Alexandre de Moraes, Dias Toffoli, and Kassio Nunes, accusing them of betraying Brazilian institutions. Additionally, he indicated he would remain neutral in a potential second-round runoff if he does not qualify, stating he would not instruct voters to support candidates he considers ‘thieves.’
Meanwhile, the presidential debate landscape has shifted as Record TV canceled its scheduled debate after the leading candidates, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Flávio Bolsonaro, declined to participate. The broadcaster stated that without the candidates holding the majority of voter intention, the program would fail to provide the necessary confrontation of ideas.
