Renan Santos refuses to endorse Lula or Flávio Bolsonaro for second round

Renan Santos, president of the Missão Party and former presidential candidate, has announced he will not support either Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva or Flávio Bolsonaro in the upcoming second-round election. Despite pressure from both campaigns for a formal endorsement, Santos stated he intends to remain neutral and does not plan to vote on election day.

Santos acknowledged Lula’s historical significance in Brazilian politics, calling him the “most important politician in Brazil,” but maintained that they remain “natural enemies.” He criticized the current political landscape as being overly polarized between the PT and Bolsonarismo, which he believes has stifled alternative political options.

Reflecting on the recent presidential debate, Santos dismissed the effectiveness of the candidates' strategies, noting that mutual accusations of corruption failed to resonate with the electorate. He indicated that his decision to remain independent is part of a broader effort to establish his own political field.
