Renate Anderl calls for SPÖ unity and childcare reform

Renate Anderl, President of the Austrian Chamber of Labour (Arbeiterkammer), has called for unity within the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) following poor polling and election results. While acknowledging that the party faces urgent challenges, Anderl emphasized that internal disagreements regarding leadership, including discussions involving Andreas Babler and Hans-Peter Doskozil, should be handled within party committees to present a unified voice to the public.

Anderl also addressed recent controversies regarding childcare, describing it as "Hundsarbeit" (dog work) that is predominantly performed unpaid by women. This follows a comment by ÖVP's Christian Stocker regarding the nature of childcare, for which he later apologized. Anderl is calling for practical actions to support working parents, such as equalizing overtime pay for both part-time and full-time employees.
