Renate struggles at bottom of Serie C Group A
Renate is facing a difficult start to the Serie C season, currently sitting at the bottom of Group A after nine matches with only four points. The club, which has spent 13 consecutive seasons in the unified Serie C, is struggling to find form following the dismissal of coach Giacomo Gattuso earlier in the season. Under successor Simone Banchieri, the team has secured two draws in three matches.
General Director Massimo Crippa acknowledged the delicate situation, stating, “We are in a moment of difficulty and the standings testify to it—we must all work even harder together to emerge from this delicate situation.” He noted that while the club is used to competing for playoffs, they are prepared to fight through this period of hardship.
Compounding the sporting struggles is a stadium issue. Due to pending authorizations for a pitch in Carate Brianza, the team is forced to play home matches at the Piola stadium in Novara, outside their home region. This displacement has impacted attendance, with a recent derby against Giana Erminio drawing only 160 spectators.
