Brazil elections: Polls show Jorginho Mello leading in Santa Catarina

Recent polling and political developments highlight the competitive landscape of the 2026 Brazilian elections. In Santa Catarina, Governor Jorginho Mello leads the gubernatorial race with 49% of the first-round intention, while the Senate race shows a technical tie between Carol de Toni, Esperidião Amin, and Carlos Bolsonaro. In the presidential race within the state, Flávio Bolsonaro holds a significant lead over President Lula with 52% compared to 26%.

In other regions, the Senate race in Minas Gerais sees Carlos Viana leading with 30.8%, followed by Marília Campos and Domingos Sávio. In São Paulo, a technical tie exists among four candidates—Marina Silva, Simone Tebet, André do Prado, and Guilherme Derrite—for the two available Senate seats.

Legal and campaign incidents have also surfaced. The TRE-SC fined Jorginho Mello R$ 5,000 for disseminating inaccurate electoral survey data. Additionally, during a campaign event in Guarulhos, Marina Silva mistakenly cited her opponent Ricardo Salles's ballot number and incorrectly identified her candidacy status.
