Renato Guttuso exhibition to open in Rome

The Museo Storico della Fanteria dell’Esercito Italiano will host ‘Renato Guttuso. Anima mediterranea’, a major retrospective of the Sicilian master, from October 17, 2026, to February 28, 2027.

Curated by Vittorio Sgarbi and Marina Giordano, the exhibition features approximately 60 works, including oils, drawings, watercolors, and engravings spanning from the 1930s to the 1980s. The collection, largely drawn from private holdings, is organized into five thematic sections: Faces, Sicily, Still Life, Artist and Society, and The Feminine.

The exhibition highlights Guttuso’s complex relationship between his Sicilian roots and his life in Rome, where he worked from 1937 until his death in 1987. The works reflect an artistic journey that intertwines private life, identity, and social and political commitment.
