Tocantins educator Olívia Amaral dies in highway accident

Olívia Aparecida Amaral Silva, a 52-year-old educator and academic director, died following a serious traffic accident on the TO-070 highway in southern Tocantins. The accident occurred near the bridge over the Xavante River between Formoso do Araguaia and Dueré, when the vehicle, a Honda Civic, left the roadway and overturned.

Also in the vehicle were her husband, Renato Jayme da Silva—a former State Secretary of Health and former president of Naturatins—and their son, Vitor Faleiro. While Olívia died at the scene, Renato was transported to the Hospital de Referência de Gurupi, where he remains in serious condition. Vitor Faleiro is reported to be in stable condition.

Tocantins Governor Wanderlei Barbosa and Senator Professora Dorinha Seabra issued statements expressing condolences to the family and wishing for Renato's recovery. Authorities are investigating the exact circumstances that caused the vehicle to leave the road.
