Renato Moicano favors Volkanovski vs. Gaethje over Tsarukyan

UFC lightweight Renato Moicano has expressed a preference for a matchup between Alexander Volkanovski and Justin Gaethje over a title shot for Arman Tsarukyan. While acknowledging that Tsarukyan is the consensus number-one contender following his recent knockout of Mauricio Ruffy, Moicano suggests the promotion may prioritize narrative and fan interest.

Moicano noted that a fight between Volkanovski and Gaethje would be appealing for all parties involved. He stated that Volkanovski remains a compelling figure due to his history with Islam Makhachev, and that the matchup would offer a more favorable challenge for Gaethje than facing Tsarukyan. Despite the ranking discrepancy, Moicano believes the UFC often prioritizes storytelling and marketability when deciding fight cards.
