Renato Schifani defends Sicilian government policies and employment stability

Renato Schifani, the President of the Sicily Region, addressed the “How is Sicily doing?” meeting at the University of Catania, emphasizing his administration's commitment to regional improvement. Schifani defended his government's record on employment, stating that rather than creating precarious work, they have provided stability for workers who were previously in unstable positions.

Schifani noted that the Sicilian parliamentary system is “anomalous” because secret ballots can be requested on any topic, which he claims makes governing difficult and necessitates constant negotiation. He also highlighted economic progress, noting that increased revenues driven by economic growth have allowed for budget variations that go beyond mere fund reallocation.

Regarding social policy, Schifani stated his focus remains on supporting the vulnerable and educating youth, citing interventions such as the “anti-crack law” and various solidarity measures as evidence of his administration's direction.
