Renato Usatîi initiates criminal probes into SIS data leak and EU fund misuse in Moldova

Moldovan opposition leader Renato Usatîi announced that the General Prosecutor's Office opened a criminal case on July 20 concerning alleged negligence in the sale of personal and operational data of Service of Information and Security (SIS) officers detained in the Russian Federation. Usatîi said, "Ieri am primit un răspuns de la Procuratura Generală. ... am mers cu un denunț pentru a verifica dacă au fost sau nu vândute datele personale și operative ale ofițerilor SIS" and added he is ready to provide further information to prosecutors.

Usatîi also said he has prepared a criminal complaint and investigation requests for the European Public Prosecutor's Office, alleging fraudulent use of EU funds in Moldova between 2021 and 2026. He stated, "Am pregătit un denunț penal și solicitări de investigație privind utilizarea posibil frauduloasă" of those funds and intends to submit the documents to the European authorities.
