Renault and EDF partner to launch V2G electric vehicle services
Renault and EDF, through its subsidiaries IZI by EDF and DREEV, have entered a partnership to develop Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) services in France. The collaboration aims to make electric vehicles more economical by allowing owners to support the national power grid during peak demand in exchange for remuneration or reduced electricity bills.
Concrete offers involving electric vehicles, home charging stations, and intelligent charging management are expected to launch by next summer. The services will specifically target owners of Renault, Dacia, and Alpine vehicles living in single-family homes. IZI by EDF will handle the installation of the necessary charging stations.
Early adopters are already testing the technology. One user in France reported earning between €35 and €50 per month by using a Mobilize bidirectional charging station with a Renault 5 electric vehicle (52 kWh battery) to feed electricity back into the grid via the Mobilize Power service.
