Renault and Suzuki launch new electric SUVs in Europe

Renault unveiled the 4 E-Tech Plein Sud, a compact electric SUV that adds an electrically operated canvas roof measuring 800 × 920 mm. The model retains the standard 148 hp (110 kW) motor and 52 kWh battery, delivering a WLTP range of up to 389 km. Orders open on 14 May, with pricing around €32,000 in the UK and €31,110 in France after incentives, and a €1,750 surcharge for the canvas‑roof version. Safety updates for the entire Renault 4 E-Tech line include driver‑fatigue monitoring and emergency stop functions.

Suzuki introduced the eVitara, its first electric SUV, built on a new platform in India. The vehicle is 4.27 m long and offers a dual‑motor version delivering 184 hp (174 hp front, 65 hp rear) and a 61 kWh lithium‑iron‑phosphate battery, claimed to provide up to 581 km of WLTP range. Charging from 10 % to 80 % takes about 40 minutes. Pricing starts at €38,900 for the top‑spec Dual‑Motor model and €36,900 for the front‑wheel‑drive version, with availability beginning in May. The eVitara combines off‑road capability with premium interior features such as heated seats and a panoramic roof.
