Renault CEO Warns Dacia Plant in Mioveni Faces Critical Challenges

Renault Group chief executive François Provost said the company’s operations in Romania have reached one of the toughest periods in its history. He cited a mix of internal and external pressures – a post‑COVID European auto market that has not fully recovered, tighter emissions regulations and a rapid shift toward electric vehicles – that are straining the Mioveni plant.

Provost outlined three strategic priorities: improve the competitiveness of the Mioveni factory to secure future production volumes; accelerate the transformation of Renault Technologie Roumanie and launch a next‑generation Dacia Sandero within two years; and revitalize commercial performance through robust domestic auto policies. He also announced that several model assemblies will be moved to other Renault sites in Turkey, Slovenia and Morocco, leaving Mioveni mainly with volume models such as the Duster and Bigster.
