Renault and Kia advance electric vehicle lineups with new models

Major automotive manufacturers are advancing their electric vehicle (EV) lineups with new models and technical upgrades.

Renault has introduced the Trafic Van E-Tech electric, a fully electric van featuring an 800-volt architecture that allows for rapid charging, recovering up to 280 km of range in 20 minutes. The vehicle has been named Utility Vehicle of the Year. Additionally, Renault is updating the Scenic E-Tech with new battery options, including a 67 kWh LFP battery, and faster charging capabilities. Renault Trucks is also expanding its E-Tech program with the T 780, offering a range of up to 660 km.

Kia is expanding its EV portfolio with the arrival of the EV2 Long Range and the EV3 in the US market. The EV3 is positioned as a sub-$30,000 electric SUV, though it is not eligible for the US federal EV tax credit following recent legislative changes. Meanwhile, the Kia EV5 is seeing significant price reductions in the European market. In Spain, energy company Endesa is promoting EV adoption by holding a giveaway for a Kia EV2 and a home charging station.
