Renault launches upgraded Megane E-Tech electric with 500 km LFP range and new tech

Renault has introduced a major facelift of the Megane E-Tech electric. The model now uses a 67 kWh lithium‑iron‑phosphate (LFP) battery assembled with a “cell‑to‑pack” architecture, delivering a WLTP‑rated range of about 500 km. Fast‑charging capacity rises to 165 kW, shortening the 80 % charge to roughly 24 minutes. Power output is 220 hp (160 kW) with 0‑100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.

Inside, the car retains the openR dual‑screen layout (12.3‑inch digital instrument cluster and 12‑inch infotainment) and deepens its Google integration, moving to the Gemini conversational AI for voice control. More than 30 driver‑assistance functions are offered, including upgraded smart cruise, enhanced surround‑view, and emergency‑stop assist. Connectivity includes 2 GB of dedicated mobile data per month, V2L/V2G capability, and optional 11 kW/22 kW bidirectional AC charging.

Renault is also expanding production capacity at its Douai plant in northern France, where the Megane E-Tech is assembled alongside other electric models. The factory will shift to full‑time, multi‑shift operation, targeting full output by early 2027 to meet rising demand. Parallel to the Megane update, Renault plans to replace nickel‑manganese‑cobalt batteries with LFP cells in its small‑car line‑up (Renault 5) from the 2026/27 model year, reinforcing its cost‑reduction strategy.
