Renault Group counters Chinese competition and unveils electric Renault 5 Turbo 3E

At a recent automotive event in Paris, Renault Group highlighted its strategic approach to competing against rising Chinese manufacturers. Renault Group head François Provost noted that Chinese competitors are now priced within approximately 5% of European models, specifically impacting Dacia's market position for vehicles like the Duster and Bigster.

Dacia aims to maintain its edge through functional design, cost-effective technology, and financial discipline, targeting an older European demographic that prefers intuitive solutions over complex electronics. Despite a nearly 10% decline in European sales over the last eight months, Dacia reports steady growth in new orders.

Additionally, Renault unveiled the Renault 5 Turbo 3E, a limited-edition electric performance model inspired by the 1980s Turbo series. The vehicle features dual electric motors producing 555 hp, an 800-volt architecture, and a 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 3.5 seconds. Production is limited to 1,980 numbered units, with an estimated starting price of 160,000 euros and deliveries expected in 2027.
