Renault increases Douai plant production for 5 E-Tech
Renault is increasing production capacity at its Douai plant in northern France due to high demand for the Renault 5 E-Tech. The electric vehicle model has reached a milestone of 100,000 units sold in just over a year.
To meet rising orders from dealership networks, the company is reinstating a full night shift at the ElectriCity industrial hub. This expansion includes hiring approximately 350 new workers, following the addition of 550 temporary employees in late 2025. The Douai facility is responsible for assembling both the 5 E-Tech and the Nissan Micra. Renault aims to eventually reach a production target of 1,200 units of the 5 E-Tech per day, with the potential to scale up to 1,400 units if demand continues to grow.
