Renault India resumes vehicle exports to Sri Lanka

Renault India has resumed vehicle exports to Sri Lanka, dispatching an initial shipment of 100 cars manufactured at its Oragadam plant in Chennai. The shipment includes the Triber, Kwid, and Kiger models.

This move marks a reentry into the Sri Lankan market through a partnership with local distributor AMW Motors. The resumption of trade is viewed as a positive indicator of Sri Lanka’s economic stabilization following a period of severe import restrictions and foreign exchange shortages caused by the country's recent economic crisis.

Renault plans to expand its product portfolio in Sri Lanka over time, with the New Duster scheduled for future introduction. The company currently utilizes its Indian manufacturing operations as an export base for 16 countries, having exported nearly 200,000 vehicles from India to date.
