Renault launches electric convertible version of classic 4 with fabric roof

Renault has revived the iconic 1960s Renault 4, introducing the Renault 4 E‑Tech Plein Sud – an all‑electric version featuring a large fabric roof that can be opened electrically in about 10 seconds, even while driving at up to 90 km/h. The roof measures roughly 92 cm when fully deployed and folds in three panels without compromising trunk space, which remains at 420 litres. The car is powered by a 52 kWh battery capable of 100 kW DC fast charging, reaching 80 % charge in around 30 minutes, and delivers a WLTP‑tested range of approximately 390‑410 km. Interior height is maintained for all passengers, and the vehicle retains a 750 kg towing capacity. Pricing starts at about €36,800‑€38,800 depending on the market, roughly €1,800 higher than the non‑convertible version. The Plein Sud is marketed as a practical yet emotive electric vehicle for leisure and everyday use.
