Renault registers Kiger SUV design in Brazil
Renault has secured the industrial design registration for the Kiger in Brazil through the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). The Kiger is a compact SUV manufactured in India that utilizes the CMF-A+ platform, an evolution of the architecture used for the Kwid hatchback.
While the registration does not guarantee an immediate launch in the Brazilian market, it follows a common industry practice of protecting designs in various regions. The Kiger is larger than the Kwid in all dimensions, measuring 3.99 meters in length with a 2.50-meter wheelbase, compared to the Kwid’s 3.68 meters and 2.42-meter wheelbase. It also offers a significantly larger trunk capacity of 405 liters versus the Kwid’s 290 liters.
The Kiger features a more robust body style and updated design elements, including the new Renault logo. Interior features include an 8-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, and wireless smartphone charging.
