Renault sells Viry-Châtillon engine factory to Dumarey Group
Renault has reached an agreement to sell its Viry-Châtillon engine factory to the Belgian Dumarey Group. The transaction involves Alpine Racing SAS, including the teams and the material and intangible assets necessary to operate the facility.
The Viry-Châtillon site, located south of Paris, has served as a historic center for Renault’s Formula 1 engine programs and a major hub for French motorsport. Following Renault's decision to end its own engine program late last year, the Alpine F1 team transitioned to using Mercedes customer engines.
Both parties are currently analyzing the organization's financial situation to determine the next steps. While Guido Dumarey has highlighted opportunities for engineering growth and reconversion, the sale follows Renault's strategic move to reduce costs and focus on more profitable business areas. The deal comes as Alpine also prepares to end its participation in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) at the end of this year.
