Renault to adopt more unified design language for future models
Renault is shifting its design strategy toward a more cohesive and restrained visual identity across its future vehicle lineup. Laurens van den Acker, head of design for the Renault Group, stated that the company aims to find a balance between individual model character and a recognizable brand identity.
The manufacturer will maintain a dual approach. Iconic, retro-inspired electric models—such as the Renault 4, Renault 5, and Twingo—will retain their unique, highly individualistic styling to honor their historical heritage. In contrast, the broader range, particularly in the C and D segments, will move toward a more unified and harmonious design language.
This strategic shift follows a period of high individualization under previous leadership. The new direction, involving Alexander Malval, seeks to integrate the wider fleet with more consistent stylistic elements while allowing legendary models to remain distinct icons.
