Renault Triber receives new 100 PS turbo-petrol engine
Renault India has launched a new turbo-petrol engine option for its seven-seater MPV, the Triber, to address performance concerns when the vehicle is fully loaded. The new TCe engine is a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged unit that produces 100 PS of power and 180 Nm of torque, representing a significant increase over the previous naturally aspirated engine's 72 PS and 96 Nm.
The upgrade was made possible by a heavily revised CMF-A platform, now known as the Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP). This new architecture allows for the integration of the turbo engine and provides the capability to house two CNG tanks under the load floor. To accommodate the increased power, Renault has also retuned the suspension with new damper valves, an anti-roll bar, and an offset spring design.
The Triber Turbo is available with a 5-speed manual transmission. Pricing for the turbo variants starts at ₹7.84 lakh (ex-showroom), with higher trims such as the Techno Turbo MT and Emotion Turbo MT priced at ₹8.53 lakh and ₹8.99 lakh, respectively. The company claims the vehicle offers a certified fuel efficiency of 21 km/l.
