Renault Trucks backs professional electric cargo bikes for urban deliveries

Urban centers are increasingly restricting polluting vehicles and expanding low‑emission zones, raising operating costs for traditional delivery vans. In response, a new generation of electric cargo bikes is emerging as an alternative for city logistics.

Renault Trucks now assembles and distributes the Kleuster professional cargo bike, capable of carrying up to 300 kg. The bikes offer a modular payload system—ranging from insulated containers for fresh food to secure compartments for valuable parcels—and an electric range of 60‑120 km that covers typical urban routes. Their compact size eases parking, reduces fines for illegal stops, and cuts fuel and maintenance expenses.

The solution is aimed at sectors such as express parcel delivery, fresh‑product distribution and urban maintenance, especially in French cities like Paris, Lyon, Marseille and Toulouse where low‑emission zones increasingly limit access for conventional vans.
